Newmai News Network Aizawl |October 26 The Mizoram Government has decided to ban crackers and other pyrotechnic materials, including toy guns that can propel pellets during Christmas and New Year celebrations. The decision was taken today at a meeting chaired by the Mizoram Home Minister R. Lalzirliana. Further banning the import of crackers and toy guns pellets during the festive season, the Taxation Department and Enforcement were directed to properly check trade transaction at the check gates. The meeting also instructed the Deputy Commissioners to issue prohibitory order banning crackers and other pyrotechnic materials. The meeting further decided to appeal to all local and village councils to make public announcements about the prohibition. All churches will be appealed to educate their members not to use the same. It appealed all NGOs and the police chief of every district to join hands to uphold the directive. The meeting further agreed to carry out awareness in all educational institutions about the bad effect of crackers and toy guns.
