Mokokchung, November 25 (MExN): A three day regional seminar on ‘Creative Use of Media: Path to Peace’ organized jointly by Clark Communication and Cultural Research Centre (CCCRC) & Clark C entre for Peace Research and Action (CCPRA) held at Jongshinokdang Hall, Clark Theological College from November 23 to 25 successfully concluded with a plenary session.
In his brief introduction, Director of the Clark Communication and Cultural Research Centre Dr L. Imsutoshi Jamir said that “our lives are filled with media technology through which we communicate, work, play and even engage with for making meaning. This implies the pervasive presence of media as an integral part of our everyday life. Information is power and insight can impact on public discourse.”
Dr I. John Mohan Razu, Professor of Social Ethics, Consultant and Research Fellow, ACTS Academy of Higher Education, Bangalore delivered the keynote on the “Media as a Creative and Critical Tool: From Truth to Peace”. Altogether 12 papers were presented the following resource persons: Dr Yangkahao Vashum, Professor of Christian Theology, ETC; Dr A. Tali Ao, Professor of Biblical Studies, CTC; Dr C.P. Anto, Director, Peace Channel, Dimapur; Dr B. Henshet Phom, Principal & Professor of Political Science, YGC; Dr Lanurenla, Professor, Department of English, Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung; Dr A. Temjen Jamir, Academic Dean & Professor of Communication, CTC; Dr. Atulu Lohe, Professor of Communication, BTC; Tinumeren Ozukum, Research Scholar, Department of Communication, FAU, Germany & Dr L. Imsutoshi Jamir Director, CCCRC. The technical sessions were moderated by Renbi Rangthang, Tsuknungrenla, Visakulie Vakha & Boholi. Dr Dennis Oh, Visiting Professor led the Devotions.
The highlight of the regional seminar was the visual presentation made by the Master’s Students in Communication Studies at Clark Theological College on the topic, “Role of Social Media in Social Movements: A Case Study on ULB Uprising.”This was stated by Imtiwala Imchen, Programme Coordinator, CCPRA in a press release.
