Chingmei Range Students’ Council (CRSC) organized a literary day on the theme ‘The artistry in you’ on October 15 at Urban Sochüm Yimpang in Tuensang town.
CRSC is a student body comprising of 6 villages namely Chingmei, New Chingmei, Waoshu, Yimpang, Taknyu and C/Saddle.
Competitions were held among the federating units of the CRSC under 4 categories – essay writing, painting, extempore speech and reverse debate.
An official of the CRSC stated that the main objective of the event was to make the participants learn something out of the experience. Explaining that the event was not just about winning or losing, the official stated that a number of topics were selected for events like ‘reverse debates’ to broaden the worldview and bring a process of change in their mindset. “We chose topics particularly in the present context of society and we gave debate topic prior to this day and I’m sure they must have gone through various sources to present their views so, whether they win or lose they have gained something out of this,” the official stated.
“We have been planning to conduct such events for a very long time but due to pandemic lockdown there wasn’t much to do and it was also important for the students to keep their minds active and thankfully we were able to conduct it today,” the official added.
The topic on essay was ‘The pros and cons of online classes,’ for painting it was ‘COVID-19 awareness’ and for the debate it was ‘India and US should support the Taliban government.’
The judges for the literary events were Ebou Chang BDO, Nabum Tombou Assistant Research Officer, Art & Culture, Changsonla PGT GHSS Tuensang and Achi GT.
The eligibility for the essay and painting competition was class 10 and above, for extempore speech class 12 and above and for reverse debate it was graduate and above.
Earlier for the formal session, J Akhong, Education & Statistical Secretary CRSC was the moderator while invocation was pronounced by Rev A Ongbou. Welcome note was delivered by C Chaangkhamba, President CRSC and vote of thanks by C Chongshen, Deputy Chairman CRSC.
The winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates were also given out to winners and all the participants.
