A cryptic “Public Notice” posted by the Nagaland Police on April 28 raised more queries than answers. The notice, which came attached with photos, sought the assistance of the citizenry in identifying and locating the people in the photos reportedly in connection to what it said was an “ongoing investigation.”

While assuring anonymity of the informant, it said, “If you have any information, please contact the State Crime Police Station, PHQ at 9436830073/ 8837262867/ 8974621655 or the nearest police station. Alternatively, you may also send an email to Spcrime-ngl@nic.in or spcrimephq@gmail.com.

It maintained that the individuals displayed on the photos were neither subject of investigation nor liable for prosecution at present, “but can provide crucial clues to an ongoing investigation.”

It did not specify the nature of the undisclosed investigation. Meanwhile, as per independent sources, it reportedly is related to an inquiry into a fake medical reimbursements case.
