
Kohima, March 9 (DIPR): A meeting was held on March 8 under the chairmanship of Nagaland Chief Secretary, Pankaj Kumar IAS at the Secretariat Conference hall Kohima for offices, departments and organisations affected by the fire incident at Kohima on February 2. The Chief Secretary in his address informed that the objective of the meeting was to take stock of the situation for the offices that have suffered damage during the incident. He expressed his concern over the issue and lamented on the extent of damages incurred in the incident. The Chief Secretary also informed about the Government’s proposal and to sanction some funds to help them stating that emergency measures were being taken up by the State government. He said that in many cases there is requirement of fund for the offices to allow functioning again. In this regard, he also said that the State Finance Department has earmarked some amount of fund to meet the most urgent requirement for the affected offices so as to allow them to function early. The affected offices, departments and organisations shared their problems faced by them. All affected offices are on the process of emergency shifting and accommodation where some are to shift to the Directorates, some to shift to some suitable place or house on rent basis until things are sorted out and some are still on the process of finalization. Nevertheless, the Chief Secretary requested all the offices, departments and organisations to get accommodated for normal functioning of office at the earliest in order to deliver services to the citizens. The State Urban Department, Planning Department and other line departments would be in coordination for the accommodation to be made at Capital Convention Centre and others as stated by the Chief Secretary. The Commissioner of Nagaland and the Deputy Commissioner Kohima are also in coordination to accommodate various departments. Departments functional again include Kohima Municipal Council, Nagaland State Legal Service Authority (NSLSA) Kohima, Assistant General Manager and Nagaland State Transport Kohima. Earlier, the Home Commissioner Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha highlighted about the important agenda to be discussed during the meeting. He said that the issue pertaining to shifting and accommodating of offices and departments will have to be solved amicably among all concern departments including all Directorates adding that it should be taken as everyone’s concern.
