CTC reminds plot holders to renew land patta

Dimapur, May 7 (MExN): The Chumukedima Town Council (CTC) has reminded plot holders within the jurisdiction of Chumukedima town on the land registration drive that was started on April 1, 2009, and reiterated on the renewal of their land pattas.

Informing of the urgent need of proper land records of Chumukedima town areas, the CTC chairperson, Neichu-U Kuotsu, in a press release, stated that after upgradation of the Chumukedima Ad-hoc Town Committee to a full-fledged Town Council by the government, the non-availability of any land records had caused lots of problems to the Council in issuing documents pertaining to land whenever asked for.

“Land patta started in 2002 jointly by the erstwhile Chumukedima Ad-hoc Town Committee, Chumukedima Village Council and New Chumukedima Village Council, has been kept in abeyance for many years,” the release informed. Thus, feeling the urgent need of proper land records of Chumukedima town areas, the CTC approached the two Village Councils to jointly start a land registration drive and renewal of land patta, which began w.e.f. April 1, 2009.

In this regard, the CTC has directed all plot holders to renew their land patta/register their land (fresh) without fail. Those non-renewed or non-registered plots, it warned, would not be entertained in case of any land dispute or requirement of any land certification (document).

The Council has also informed that many plot holders had been found to have renewed their land under the Land Records Register of CTC and, in this regard, requested those concerned landowners to do the same at the earliest without fail. Those lands not entered in the Land Record Register of the Town Council shall not be entertained in time of need, the release added.
