CTYO cautions against illegal activities

Dimapur, June 27 (MExN): The Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation (CTYO) has warned of action against those individuals or groups indulging in illegal activities and disrupting peace and tranquility within its jurisdiction.

In a press release on Sunday, the organisation cited multiple complaints and concerns from the public with regard to the activities of antisocial elements in the general area of Chümoukedima town. “CTYO reiterates and reminds for the information of all that activities like drinking in public places, drug peddling/abusers, thievery or any such activities that disrupts the peace and tranquility of Chümoukedima area, while all being punishable offences under the law, will not be tolerated,” it said, adding that volunteers would be deployed to conduct regular surprise checks. Strict action will be taken against any such defaulters, it added.

Additionally, keeping in mind the impact of the pandemic on the economy, the organisation appealed to the business community/shopkeepers to refrain from hoarding of goods, especially essential commodities, as such practices would give rise to price rise/shortage of goods, and have a domino effect on price of other goods as well. It also warned of strict action against anyone found selling expired goods.

It further requested the denizens of Chümoukedima to follow all the laid down protocols, the standard operating procedure (SOPs), by the Government of Nagaland on preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
