‘Cultural Connect’

Through ‘Cultural Connect,’ cultural troupes from all parts of Nagaland today performed cultural dances, songs and traditional practices on third day at Hornbill Festival 2021 at Kisama.

‘Cultural Connect’ is a cultural extravaganza presented by the Department of Art & Culture. It will continue till December 10.

With two shows daily at 10:00 AM to 12: 00 and 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM, this event has been arranged for the visitors to experience the rich cultural songs, dances and tradition of the tribes of Nagaland.

Lt Gen Ravin Khosla AVSM, SM, VSM, General Commanding officer, 4 Corps, Tezpur graced the morning session as guest of honour with Public Health Engineering Minister Jacob Zhimomi and Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs Advisor Zhaleo Rio as the hosts.

The cultural troupes who performed at the morning session include;  Zeliang (Chareng Lin- Dancing like the of a Hornbill), Kuki (Lom Lam- Loom dance), Yimkhiung (Tithia Aza Nungariah- folk song), Sumi (Apilo Kuwo- war dance), Sangtam (Sangtam Athrongrü Nyichi khi- Warrior dance), Rengma (Loshü Khwe- Seeds sowing song), Kachari (Chotrolee- folk dance), Pochury (Tenonpasu- folk song), Chakhesang (Tukhu He- demonstration)

The afternoon session witnessed cultural performances from cultural troupes including: Ao (Naga Wadir Yar-Naga Wadir's Dance), Phom (Kyong-Nya-Yong- graceful dance), Konyak - Yah Lahpu-Head hunting). Lotha presented Rice bounding folk song while Khiamniungan performed Po-Hoi Jihang- dormitory song), Garo presented quarrel dance and Chang performed Khüngkhün Wansatyung- traditional way of fire making.

The hosts for the evening cultural programme were Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary affairs minister  Neiba Kronu and Skill Development, Labour and Employment, CAWD advisor Kazheto Kinimi.
