‘Cultural Connect’

The fourth day of ‘Cultural Connect’ event at Hornbill Festival 2021 at Kisama witnessed extravaganza performance of cultural dances, songs and indigenous games from 17 tribes of Nagaland.

During morning session, the following presentations were made by the respective cultural troupes: Mulo Phe-traditional dance was performed by Chakhesang, Kongkik Tokyubü-Mouth Organ by Chang, Rong Dea-Stone lifting by Garo, An Tepong Raka-Cock fight by Ao, Yamke Jihang-Peace treaty dance by Khiamniungan, Tati pfe-folk song by Angami, Ok-pu Mongme-pu Ongpu-Folk dance on victory- by Konyak, Ham Teuk- Baking traditional earthen pots by Phom and Sharise-Folk dance by Lotha.

Lt Gen PC Nair, AVSM, YSM, Director General Assam Rifles Shillong graced the morning session as the guest of honour. In his brief address, Lt. Gen. Nair said that Hornbill is a very unique festival and a platform for domestic and foreign tourists to come and witness the vibrant traditional events of the various tribes.

The afternoon session was marked by presentations from the following cultural troupes like; Alo Mudan- Folk dance by Yimkhiung, Phakensü-High Kicking by Rengma, Daosri Delai- Folk dance by Kachari, Rangshi Thahmülitaba- tug of war by Sangtam, Aki Kiti/Angu Kupusu- spear kicking and indigenous game- by Sumi, Kang-Kap-indigenous game by Kuki, Magubo –Howling by Zeliang and Chen huma-Traditional archery game by Pochury.

Daniel Sim, Deputy Consul General, Australia graced the event as the guest of honour.
