On cut down of Govt. Employees

Sir/Madam,

Through your esteemed daily, I wish to share my concern relating to the news published in the local dailies of the state Governments' decision to cut down the number of government employees. I concur with the idea if we think it through however, instead of cutting down the number of employees why not terminate/cut down the number of govt. staffs who hardly or never attend to their given duties or visit their posting places throughout the year? There are officers who go to their posting places once or twice in a year only during the Republic day or the Independence day and for the rest of the year attend to personal business. These are the parasites that needs to be removed from their employments rather than cutting down the number of new recruits. There are many unemployed, educated, dedicated and skilled youngsters in our state who are looking for jobs so why kill their dreams and aspirations and ignore those that only show up to collect their salaries at the end of the month that are being generated through the hard work and sincerity of the few govt. employees? The adverse financial condition in the state is the outcome of successive governments who misused funds and mixed politics in all matters instead of focusing on the development and infrastructure of the state. The name of the political parties keep changing but the politicians are always the same whether they are active in politics or retired which is why our state Nagaland is in a mess that would take years or even generations to recover.

Yours' Sincerely,

Faith
Officers Hill,
Kohima, Nagaland.
