Kohima, December 18 (MExN): The three-day golden jubilee celebration of the Thenyizumi Baptist Church’s Christian Youth Endeavour (CYE) concluded on December 17 in Thenyizu village under Phek district.
The jubilee was held under the theme "Alive in Christ" with Rev Dr Suluveyi Rhakho, Coordinator of Globe Server International, Minneapolis, USA, and Rev Vemüriyi Vadeo, Pastor of Naga Christian Fellowship, Shillong, as the main speakers.
The speakers covered various topics such as living in Christ, unwavering truth in a changing world, challenges and opportunities for modern youth, hope amid uncertainty, presenting Christ in today's world, and the youth's mission.
In his speech, Rev Dr Rhakho emphasised the need to share the blessings of the jubilee, fostering unity, love, and a renewed commitment to the Christian journey.
He also underscored the value of cheerful giving and encouraged the youth to share God's message in their unique ways.
The essence of true Christianity is spreading love, and the Gospel of Christ defines one's faith, beyond mere membership or attendance, he added.
Rev Dr Rhakho also dwelt on the significance of a strong work ethic among young people and urged them to actively seek employment rather than passively waiting for opportunities.
Muthasheyi Chotso, Chairman of CABYF, expressed hope that the celebration would not merely bring people together for an event but would also serve as a time for reflection, contemplating God's faithfulness in both our physical and spiritual journeys. He also challenged the youth to remain steadfast in Christ.
The Convenor of the Jubilee Organising Committee, Selakhoyi Kapuh, said the celebration is a significant occasion warranting a grand celebration, allowing for reflection on 50 years of God's grace, blessings, and the unwavering spirit within our Christian journey.
He also stressed the importance of uniting as one family, expressing faith and gratitude for the path guided by the Lord.
During the celebration, a monolith was erected and dedicated by Vekhutso Resu, the first session chairman.
