CYF modifies order on pig imports

Phek, October 7 (MExN): The Chakhesang Youth Front has partially modified its earlier directives of enforcing temporary ban on all import of piglets within the Chakhesang inhabited jurisdiction and has decided to allow import of piglets for rearing within the permissible weight (i.e below 30 kg).

However, import would be allowed only after obtaining No Objection Certificate (NOC) jointly signed by Village Council/Ward Chairman and Youth President of the respective village/Town Unit, Fitness/Health Certificate from the concerned Veterinary Department and NOC issued by CYF after verification, a press release informed.

“No import of piglets shall be allowed from Red Zone of ASE (African Swine Fever) or any other disease(s) declared by the concerned department under any circumstances,” added the release issued by Vice President and CYF In-charge, Pig Import Ban and Promotion Cell, Nyitso Therie and Assistant Organising Secretary, CYF Member of the Cell Lhiche Ritse.

“No stoppage/halting shall be allowed within the Chakhesang inhabited jurisdiction of Phek district for other districts/states transporting pigs/piglets,” it added.

The modification was been done in consultation with the Chakhesang Public Organisation(CPO) and District Veterinary Officer, Phek, the CYF informed, further urging the public to sincerely adhere to the above directives.
