Daeshin Academy, a private school fostered under the care of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) marked its 25th anniversary celebration of the school’s founding at Diphupar B, Chumoukedima on February 10 with foreign church leaders, alumni, parents, guests and well-wishers attending as part of the event.

Rev Choi Hanzu, Pastor of Sammoon church from South Korea who was invited to speak on the occasion applauded the efforts of the school administration to bring the school at its current standing. Established in the year 1998, the school is currently under the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) and has been upgraded up to higher secondary level (10+2) level. He noted that education is indispensable to nurture the next generation of youngsters who would lead their society and the Christian community in general.

“So as long as there are Christians who commit to education, I don't worry about you and Dashin Academy,” he said. In addition, Hanzu challenged the congregation to put their focus and efforts towards nurturing children in accordance to the teachings of the Bible. Education was always a prime concern of Christendom, for the fate of the Kingdom of God relied on people, which is the object of education, he mentioned.

Taking a passage from Deuteronomy 32:46-47 about Moses’ final message to the Israelites, Hanzu noted that it refers to call toward passing down education to their children and the values attached with it.  In other words, education was a matter of life and death. If they fail to educate the next generation, there won't be a people of God anymore, he added.
“Let's continue with the excellent work and participate in the ministry of God to give hope and life to the next generation,” he declared.

Rev Dr C Cho-o, Executive Secretary of CBCC meanwhile highlighted that the school has produced many accomplished professionals and gifted students who have added feathers to the academy through their excellent performances in the academics including co-curricular activities. Daeshin Academy was an infant school 25 years ago, but today by the grace of God, it is a reputed and flourishing school, he mentioned.

The school has also given a sense of direction to many students both past and present and he thus expected it to have a bright future under the care of the administration, teachers and staffs.

“Daeshin Academy is not a project, it is a ministry. Therefore, let us all join our hearts and hands together to fulfil God's vision for the world through Daeshin Academy,” he proclaimed.

During the programme, scripture reading was delivered by Ketholeno Nuvocho while invocation was bestowed by Rev Dr Dingu Kenye. A jubilee souvenir was also released in the midst of the congregation by Jeong Jinseong.

Earlier, the anniversary plaque and laying of foundation stone for the new academic building were unveiled by the members of CBCC and the South Korean delegation.
