Dakshata training for medical personnel held in Dimapur

The first batch of Dakshata Training for Labour Room and Maternity OT Staff Nurses under District Hospital Dimapur was held from October 3 to 5 at the School of Nursing Dimapur.
 

 

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 6 (MExN): The first batch of Dakshata Training for Labour Room and Maternity OT Staff Nurses under District Hospital Dimapur was held from October 3 to 5 at the School of Nursing Dimapur. The training aims to reduce maternal and child mortality during childbirth and provide quality service during delivery.


The training was centred on causes of Maternal & Neonatal Mortality and ways to decrease it by using Partograph, Safe Childbirth Checklist and performing Active Management of Third Stage Labor (AMTSL) and New-Born Resuscitation (NBR). 


Other topics include Post-partum Family Planning including Safe Abortion Services, Respectful Maternity Care, Infection Prevention Practices and Bio-Medical Waste management were also discussed during the training along with Labour Room Organization for quality cared during delivery. Mannequins and dummies were used to demonstrate normal delivery, essential newborn care and new-born resuscitation. 


The Resource persons were Dr. Yangrenthung Jami, OB&G, DH Tuensang; Dr. S. Kuotsutho, OB&G, DH Dimapur; Vikhostono, Nursing Tutor, SON Dimapur; and Vethipralu Lohe, DPM, Quality Assurance, Dimapur. 


Dr. Rebecca, DIO , RCH-UIP Dimapur was also present during the training as an Observer.


DAKSHATA training for Medical Officers and other Medical Staffs will soon be conducted in the District in a phase-wise manner.


DAKSHATA, which means “Adroitness” or “Dexterity” is a strategic initiative of the Government of India aimed to strengthening quality of care and services during and immediately after childbirth through competent, skilled and confident healthcare providers.
