Damage to Niathu Resort has ruined my wedding plans

Sedevino Kennao

I write to you with regard to the, ‘Niathu Resort’ that has been vandalised early Sept 2012 and most importantly to shareabout how effected I am by the incident. When I got proposed early this year, in every possible excitement my fiancé and I planned our Nov wedding. All the functions and guests stay was zeroed in Niathu Resort. Got everything booked and planned out since May, to give us enough time to sort out other necessaries. Now I have been given a notice by the Naithu Resort that all my bookingshave been cancelled as the property has been destroyed. So now My D Day and our plans are hanging on to a complete mess.

I am overtly and utterly speechless as my mind panic from one worry to the other. What now? Where will my future-in-laws and friends stay? Why is our so called educated Nagas so uncivilised? Where is the sense of all these violence? How can our people be so mean hearted? What does Niathu Resort got to do with an unfortunate incident that happened in Kohima? Why me?
The only resort in Nagaland that gives and provides an environment of a unique &beautiful Naga experience that is on par with international standard!

I may be sounding over the top but this is not the case, my fiancé is English, we are having friends and family coming from England, Australia, Wales and US. Naithu Resort was my one and only option. And now as time ticks awayI am still struggling tofind an ideal venue where I can have our guests stay in comfort and also have the function in the same location!

How unfortunate this incident has been!  As I struggle with my own, I wonder how many functions has been cancelled, how many bookings have been called off, how many resort staffs are now jobless by this senseless incident! And yes, I also wonder what the owner of the resort is going through! The resort will be rebuilt again (I hope) but the question is will our people ever learn?  In the end let’s remember two trees cannot make a forest; two men cannot make a city. We got to change our basic mind-sets! We have to remember and realise that hotels and resorts like Niathu Resort is so crucial for us Nagas and we cannot at any cost go destroying it for any reason!
