Dimapur, April 16 (MExN): Minister for Home Thenucho reminds that the days of solving problems through ‘might’ is gone and in its place, the time to tackle issues through intellectual reasoning and dialogue has been instated. On this, he, while urging students to “rise above themselves” since the world has no place for mediocrity, he called against considering challenges as an excuse. Minister Thenucho was addressing the 2nd general conference of the Angami Students’ Union at Chiechama, April 15.
“That problems should not be taken as an excuse because every generation has its own share of problems and though no doubt there is strife and unrest but the days of solving problems through might is gone and that the time has now come to solve problems through intellectual reasoning and dialogue” Thenucho said. He strongly reminded that reason is far more an effective weapon than anger and the students should lead in staring a strong base “because anything without firm roots and strong foundations cannot last long.”
Making his point heard, Thenucho said that the present era is one which is fiercely competitive and where every individual strives for excellence. “…and there is no place for mediocrity” he reminded. “The spread of education has also made it a necessity for specialization and excellence in the different fields,” he said. “we are also living in an era striving for excellence in all fields but there are elements of unrest with disturbance everywhere but the cry of the whole world is the cry of peace” he asserted.
The Home minister also unasserted to the Angami students that “there is still scope for improvement” and they are expected to “improve undoubtedly” since most of them study in Kohima ‘where all facilities are available.’ He said that since Naga politics, administration, development and education started in Kohima so also the students are expected to “lead the Nagas in the right direction.” Home Minister Thenucho also urged the students to rise above themselves, widen their horizon and to venture out ‘so as to make the world theirs.’
