
Kohima, September 2 (MExN): The department of English of Don Bosco College conducted a workshop on September 1 based on the topic ‘’Basic concepts of Morphology’’. The Resource person of the workshop was Dr Waikhom Pinky Devi , currently an Assistant Professor(Guest Faculty) in the Department of Linguistics, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, a press release informed on Friday.
During the programme which was chaired by Diya Kez, Chathasezo Charles pronounced the invocation while the welcome speech was delivered by Dr Pinky Sagolsem wherein she gave a brief introduction to morphology, the importance and need of morphology and how it plays a significant role in teaching and learning of English language.
As per the release, the resource person focused on various concepts of Morphology. She gave a layout on linguistics and scopes of linguistics, elaborating on how language is a powerful medium of communication and that it is a social phenomena which is systematic and symbolic. She highlighted on the types of morphology and on the various word formation and morphological description of a sentence. The theory session was followed by a practical session. The participants actively took part in the session.
The program ended with distribution of certificates which was followed by a vote of thanks by Kevilhoubei Talie, the release stated.
