DBSU recognises HSLC & HSSLC toppers

Dimapur, July 5 (MExN): The 4th annual felicitation programme of HSLC and HSSLC toppers organised by Dimapur Bengali Students’ Union (DBSU) was held at St Mary Montessori Higher Secondary School, Dimapur on July 5.


Minister of Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along was the special guest during the occasion. 


Acknowledging the contributions of the Bengali community to the progress of the state, the Minister called for the people of the Nagaland to work together beyond divisions. 


Earlier, Bishnu Bhattacharjee, who is also the DBSU Advisor, asked the students to work hard and be prepared for the challenges ahead in the future. DNSU President, Sedevilie Angami also congratulated the successful candidates. President of Dimapur Bengali Samaj, KK Paul also addressed the gathering. 


The programme was live-streamed so that those who could not be a present in the venue could still be a part of it.


Altogether, 12 students were felicitated during the programme. This year, there were also two new awards introduced namely Late Chandan Mazumdar Memorial Award, which was awarded to Abhi Chakraborty (first rank holder,  HSLC) and Late Ashutosh Paul Memorial Award which was awarded to Anushka Bhattecharjee (first rank holder, HSSLC, Science).


The Minister meanwhile also gave Rs 3,000 to each of the toppers as well as Rs 50,000 to the Union and Bishnu Bhattecharjee gave Rs 5,000 each to the two Bengali subject toppers.


The programme was chaired by Rajat Ghosh, VP and Spokesperson of DBSU, welcome address was delivered by VP Deepankar Sarkar and activity report was presented by its GS Deep Debnath.
