
Peren, October 31 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner Peren, Vineet Kumar has stated that no individual, organisation, or village possesses the authority to take the law into their own hands or interfere with the activities of law enforcement authorities and carry out checking and stopping of vehicles along the National Highway.
Consequently, in an order, the DC Peren has directed all village councils within the Peren district to instruct their respective village members and organisations to abstain from engaging in such practices within their jurisdiction.
It cautioned that citizens involved in such activities along the National Highways or any other state highway passage would be subject to serious legal consequences as per the relevant sections of the law.
The police and transportation department personnel are authorised to conduct patrolling and vehicle inspections on the highway, it clarified.
As reported by the State DIPR, the order was issued following instances where the public were observed conducting checks and stopping vehicles along the National Highway within Peren district, leading to unwarranted intrusions, harassment, and disorder.
The order stressed that highways are designated for the smooth movement of people, vehicles, and the transportation of goods and commodities and requested all village councils to maintain good environment and maintain peace under their jurisdiction.
