DCCI appeals Dimapur-based transporters to call off agitation

Dimapur, September 27 (MExN):  The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry on Tuesday appealed to the Dimapur-based transporters to call off their shutter-down agitation, taking into consideration the oncoming festive season. Making its appeal through a press release, Omega Yepthomi, Convenor, Grievances Cell, DCCI and Tino Jamir, Secretary, Grievances Cell, DCCI stated that the DCCI had a joint meeting with the Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Sachin Jaiswal and the Commissioner of Police Rothihu Tetseo on September 23. The meeting discussed the ongoing indefinite closure of offices of Dimapur transporters since September 16, which has affected normal business activities in the commercial hub besides causing immense hardships and loss to the business community and inconvenience to the general public, it said. “In the meeting, both the Deputy Commissioner and the Commissioner of Police assured the DCCI members that the armed miscreants responsible for recent indents of threat/life attempt on transporters and other businessmen would be apprehended and booked soon,” the DCCI release stated. In view of the assurances from the District Administration and the Police Administration, and to facilitate smooth shopping during the festive season, the DCCI urged the Dimapur-based transporters to call off their shutter-down agitation.
