Chümoukedima, May 14 (MExN): The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Chümoukedima, held its first quarterly meeting and monsoon preparedness meeting at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on May 14.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Polan John and attended by heads of departments and representatives from various government agencies.
Discussions centred on preparedness measures and coordinated strategies ahead of the ensuing monsoon season, with emphasis on inter-departmental coordination and timely action to ensure public safety and minimise risks during the rainy season.
During the meeting, participating departments presented their respective pre-monsoon action plans.
Key issues discussed included disaster response mechanisms, flood prevention measures, maintenance of road connectivity, power supply management, healthcare preparedness, water supply, availability of food and essential commodities, and other emergency response arrangements.
Officials from several departments participated in the meeting, including the Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur; Executive Engineer (Power); Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED); District Civil Supplies Officer (Food and Civil Supplies); Chief Veterinary Officer of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry; Executive Engineers of PWD (Roads and Buildings) and PWD (National Highways); General Manager of NHIDCL; and the Superintending Engineer of the Investigation Cell, Water Resources Department, Chümoukedima.
The meeting underscored the need for coordinated efforts among departments to strengthen disaster preparedness and response during the monsoon season, officials said.
