Mon, May 28 (MExN): District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Mon, held quarterly meeting on May 28 at DC’s conference hall, Mon. The Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DDMA, Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, chaired the meeting.
A DIPR report stated that the meeting was mainly for pre-monsoon preparedness in the district. He said there are lots of challenges road blockages, issues of food, medicines and other commodities problems. Therefore, he urged all the concerned departments to be well prepared to face all those challenges.
F&CS shared about the availability of essential commodities in the district. Roads infrastructure sector, alternative routes, machinery functionality was highlighted by PWD (R&B), PWD (NH) NHIDCL and BRO. Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) said that they have formed a Task force for the monsoon season. They have started clearing the road and maintaining the drainage. District Hospital Mon authority informed about the essential drugs, medicines, manpower availability in the district Hospital Mon.
ADC Mon Hq, K Temjennaro Longkumer explained on sanitization as a part of Monsoon preparedness. “So far no successful social work has been conducted in Mon town,” she stated while urging the officers “to start from our own office. Let us all participate, unless officers, NGOs, citizens are involved there is no meaning in conducting social work.” She also added that “behavioural change is very much required for us to educate the people about the cleanliness, sanitization, and maintenance of drainage in the society.”
