DDPODU condemns murder of pickup driver

DIMAPUR, MARCH 19 (MExN): Dimapur District Pick-up Van Owners & Drivers Union (DDPODU) has condemned the kidnap and murder of one of its members, Devanand Kumar Shah. Shah’s body was found dumped in an area falling under Borlongfer Police Station, Karbi Anglong on March 17, a day after he went missing from Dimapur alongwith his pick-up. A resident of Army Supply Road, Dimapur, Shah operated his pick-up from the Station Road parking lot for commercial vehicles.  

According to the police, on March 16 Shah’s pickup was hired by unidentified persons to purportedly transport areca nuts from Lumding to Dimapur. But he was found murdered the next day and the pick-up missing somewhere between the Diphu-Lumding Road in Karbi-Anglong.  

Terming the murder as barbaric, the DDPODU urged the investigating agency to track down the perpetrators. The case is being investigated by the Borlongfer Police Station. While extending its condolences to the bereaved family, the union asked its members to pay homage to the departed Shah on March 20.
