Dimapur, February 26 (MExN): The Dimapur District Seva Dal (DDSL) and Young Brigade convened a coordination meeting on February 23 at the conference hall of Dimapur District Congress Office with Seva Dal office bearers and Seva Dal volunteers from several districts and constituencies.
A press release issued by the Dimapur District Congress Committee stated that during the meeting, Chief Organizer, DDSL K. Aazo Rhakho spoke briefly on the history of the Seva Dal which is the grassroots front organization of the Indian National Congress (INC) with chapters in all the states of the Indian Union.
Advising the members to firstly understand and know the true meaning of Seva Dal and work actively for the coming elections to the Lok Sabha, Rhakho appealed to the gathering participate in nation building through the Congress’ ideology of secularism, tolerance and pluralism from which the Seva Dal is founded. “I saw a future in the Congress ideology,” Rhakho stated, as he urged the volunteers to refrain from being influenced by monetary or personal gains.
Highlighting on the need to save our democracy from BJP’s agendas and divisive policies like the Citizenship Amendment Bill, Rhakho emphasized on the urgent need to reach out to the grassroot level. In this regard, he added that the Seva Dal will begin its door-to-door campaign across the state on March 5, for which it is training the volunteers.
Addressing the Seva Dal volunteers as well as Young Brigade members under the leadership of District Convener Mughabe Naga, he encouraged them to be prepared mentally and physically as “the organisation will play an important role to ensure the victory of the Congress in the lone Lok Sabha seat of the state.”
The meeting which was chaired by Akavi N Zhimomi, Secretary (Organization) Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, also held featured an interactive session with participants sharing their views and suggestions for successful conduct of the door-to-door campaign.
