WOKHA, JULY 30 (MExN): A sample of a deceased pig in Bhandari Subdivision has been confirmed positive for Classical Swine Fever (CSF) by the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry after test at ELISA Lab, Kohima.
After the confirmation, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Bhandari, Tiameren Chang has issued a public order reiterating that an earlier total ban on of transportation of pigs and slaughtering of pigs for meat consumption purpose under Bhandari Sub division, would continue.
According to a DIPR report, the ADC further asked the concerned department to continue monitoring the case for public health safety.
He also asked the Sector Commander, CRPF (Neutral Force) to cooperate in imposing a total ban of butchering pigs at Merapani Baazar.
Travel restrictions
In another order issued on the same day, the ADC Bhandari stated that no individuals or returnees would be allowed to enter or cross over to the state of Nagaland through Bhandari Sub-division without clearance from the district authorities and health authorities concerned.
The order stated that this has been done in order, not to expose the public of the sub-division and the rest of Wokha district and beyond, to the dangers of the COVID-19 pandemic spread.
Further, no unauthorised persons shall be allowed to enter the state of Nagaland, Wokha district or Bhandari Sub-division through Wokha-Merapani road or any undesignated points, nor allowed to go out of Wokha district as COVID-19 positive cases have been reportedly surged in the neighbouring districts of Golaghat and Jorhat in Assam, the order stated.
