Dimapur, February 7 (MExN): The Delhi Lotha Baptist Church celebrated its 25th year of existence in New Delhi on February 5. “In this journey what started as a small ‘Prayer Fellowship’ has now become a full-fledged Church. For a much longer period, it existed under the name ‘Delhi Lotha Christian Fellowship’ (Till 2021),” Dr Rembomo Odyuo, Convenor and Emilo Ngullie, Secretary, Silver Jubilee stated in a press release.

The Silver Jubilee was celebrated under the theme ‘Hungjan Ethan’-A New Horizon’. The event started with a cutting of ribbon and prayer of dedication by Rev K Chumben Kyong, pastor, Delhi Lotha Baptist Church. Dr Rembomo Odyuo, convenor of the Silver Jubilee delivered the welcome address, followed by invocation prayer by Jethro Merry, founding member of the church. 

Prof Benrithung Murry, convenor of history committee presented a brief yet a comprehensive report of the church history.

Pastor Chenithung Ezung consecrated and unveiled the ‘Silver Jubilee’ Monolith and Souvenir. Prof Zuchamo Yanthan, gave away the presentation of gifts to all the executive members of the past and present, different organizing committee members, guest speakers, choir members, individuals, in-laws etc. 

Dr Thungpamo Patton, spoke on behalf of the founding members of the church. The prayer of ‘Silver Jubilee’s Blessings was pronounced by Re .Ntsenth Lotha. A special offering was collected in the name of ‘Silver Jubilee Celebration’, which was blessed by Evangeline Odyuo Koireng. The scripture reading was read by Emilo Ngullie, Secretary, Silver Jubilee.

The Jubilee speaker was Rev Dr Benri Lotha, senior pastor, Kohima Lotha Baptist Church. Before he delivered the message, he praised the church leaders of the past and present for sustaining the church so beautifully and leading us to its 25 years celebration. His message was centered on being grateful to God and living a life in abundance keeping in tune with God’s purpose for our lives. He also spoke about how living a meaningful life today can determine a powerful legacy for the future generation of our people. 

Rev Dr Benri concluded his message by challenging the congregation to remain faithful, and be more focused on what is ahead of us in heaven and not to be swayed away by the glitters of this temporary physical world. 

The church choir members led by Eyingbemo Ovung, the choirmaster & the pianist Zichibeni Murry presented two songs based on the jubilee theme: ‘Hungjan Ethan’-(A New Horizon) & ‘Limha Ji Ze’ (Look at the World). The children choir members also presented a song titled ‘Glorious’. 

Dr Chumbemo Khuvung, advisor of DLBC delivered the vote of thanks. He thanked everyone for making the ‘Silver Jubilee Celebration’ a successful one and above all he thanked God for blessing us in so many ways. The Silver Jubilee celebration ended with a jubilee feasting at the programme venue, Nagaland House Law, 29 Dr Abdul Kalam Road, New Delhi.
