CCoRoRP demands govt’s written assurance within 72 hours
DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 14 (MExN): The Core Committee on Rationalisation of Reservation Policy (CCoRoRP) has written to the Nagaland Chief Minister reiterating its demand for rationalization of reservation policy and its implementation with “reasonable and logical perspective which would ensure the progression of our people holistically.”
The CCoRoRP includes the All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK), Angami Students’ Union (ASU), Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) and Rengma Students’ Union (RSU).
Reiterating the representation submitted to the Review Committee on Job Reservation on August 22, 2019, the committee called for implementation of ‘creamy layer’ policy on reservation, pocket-wise reservation, equal criteria on educational qualification for all jobs, category options for all competitive exams, cut off mark on reservation quota with no backlog vacancy on roaster system, and time framed review of the reservation policy.
It called for the constitution of an “effective body” to address this pressing matter and effectively implement the proposition immediately.
The committee also demanded that a written assurance to this effect be given within 72 hours. It said that upon expiry of 72 hours, “lightening strike and protest shall be activated at any point of time.”
It said that the committee “shall not be held accountable and responsible for any unforeseen development or consequences in any fallout or complacency.”
The representation was signed by CCoRoRP Convener, N Ejanthang Ngullie; Secretary, Zakie Khate; ASU President, Vizokho Zashumol; SKK President, Hutoshe Kits; AKM President, Nungdokyanger Ao; and LSU President, Ashanthung Humtsoe.
The CCoRoRP stated that “advancement will not miraculously come by giving reservation over reservation.” On the contrary, every individual needs to seriously work as responsible stakeholders to bring positive changes in our society, it added.
“Modern Naga society is in the process of a developing civilization ever since the British expedition into the Naga hills followed with evangelization and the advent of modern education by the American missionaries beginning from 1832 in which some got evolved two or more centuries ago and some much even lesser. It takes time for any civilization to evolve. However, each of our tribes is in this together and nothing can stop this naturally evolving progression,” the committee observed.
While stating that reservation is required in certain areas, the committee noted that “excelling meritocracy cannot be denied in any way.” It further called the present reservation policy as “redundant, rugged and unjust in this proportion.”
It called for an objectively rationale and systematic academic review of the policy.
