DENSU to attempt world record for blood donation

Dimapur, March 16 (MExN): The Dimapur Eastern Nagaland Students’ Union (DENSU) in alliance with National Integrated Forum of Artists & Activists (NIFAA) will be organizing a blood donation camp, in observation of the nationwide Blood and Plasma Donation Awareness Campaign on March 23 at District Hospital Dimapur.

“The core purpose of organizing blood donation camp is to ensure that there is adequate blood stored in the district hospital for emergency requirement,” DENSU stated in a press release on Tuesday.

Along with the drive to save lives, DENSU informed that the camp is also an attempt to create a Guinness World Record for blood donation.

According to the Guinness World Records website, the most people to sign up to donate blood in 8 hours is 10,217. It was achieved by The Indian Red Cross Society and Andhra Pradesh State Branch at Loyola College, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India, on February 15, 2020.

DENSU has requested all right-thinking citizens to come forward and donate blood, adding that each donor will be acknowledged with certificates and their names will be entered in the e-directory.
