Deo Nukhu completes tour of all govt colleges

Dimapur, April 23 (MExN): Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education and SCERT, Deo Nukhu on Monday completed his tour to all the government colleges across the state by covering Kohima College today. During his visit to the college this afternoon, he agreed in principle to introduce Commerce Stream at Kohima College in the next academic year, 2014 and further assured to de-link class 11 from Kohima College and Phek College respectively, starting this year.

He said de-linking of class 11 on phase wise will be followed in other districts where there are higher secondary schools, for which formal approval will be issued soon. In the meantime, he challenged the faculty members to pursue doctorates so they could also start PG level in the college after a few years. The Parliamentary Secretary further urged upon the college authority to supervise the contract works relating to the college to ensure that quality work is delivered by the contractors.

After visiting and inspecting all the government colleges in Nagaland, he also observed that there are lots of differences from college to college in terms of infrastructure and faculty. He was impressed by the library in Kohima College and commented that it is one of the best in the state while further calling upon the faculty to give their best so that the generations to come will remember their good deeds.

Commissioner and Secretary for Higher Education, FP Solo extended his appreciation to the Parliamentary Secretary for visiting all the colleges within a short span of time after been allotted the portfolio and further congratulated the college for coming this far. He asked them to give their best to make Kohima College the best college in the state and in the meantime, also assured to extend his best to introduce Commerce Stream, provided the required posts are created by the government while stating that it is a matter of time. He further encouraged them to organize seminars from time to time relating to education to enhance their knowledge and appealed the college authority to keep up the good name of the college.

Director for Higher Education, Toshiba also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the awards for toppers, programs and activities under the department. He also called upon the faculty to make Kohima College a model college in the state.
