Mon, February 5 (MExN): The Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton who also holds the portfolio of National Highways, today paid a surprise visit to the ongoing repair and construction work at NH-702 under Mon District.
During the inspection, the Dy CM was “dissatisfied and disappointed” over the ongoing repairing and blacktopping works at Tapi area under Mon district, Media Cell of the Dy CM stated while adding that he expressed anguish against the poor workmanship of the agency concerned.
The workmanship in the public sector cannot be compromised at any cost, he stated and urged the concerned contractual agencies to take stock of the poor work and ensure quality road.
Patton maintained that contractors should maintain and follow the guidelines according to the government orders. Patton urged the engineers and department officials to be watchful and closely monitor the whole process in order to deliver high-quality road to the people.
Interacting with the Konyak Union, Konyak Students’ Union and Tapi Area Students’ Union, the Dy CM called upon them to extend full support and cooperation for better development of the road and to look after the quality of work. He asked them to report to the government if the contractors concerned are not following according to the government guidelines and specifications.
Meanwhile, the NGOs and District Administration officials expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Dy CM for having concern and visiting the ongoing construction.
The Dy CM was accompanied by Superintending Engineer (NH), Yanbemo Humtsoe, Superintending Engineer (NH) Tia, Executive Engineer (NH) Mon District, Z. Mero, (IPS) IGP.
