Detention centre busted

DIMAPUR, August 6 (MExN): The Assam Rifles has claimed that it busted a “detention centre” in Purana Bazaar, Dimapur on August 3.  

According to a defence release, the 32 Assam Rifles along with police representative launched an operation “based on specific information” and rescued one individual identified as Tonwang Konyak, aged 54, from the residence of one Kiyeho Sumi. The rescued individual is a resident of Signal Basti and had been kidnapped on July 31 from his house, the AR claimed.  

One .22 mm Pistol with magazine and other “war like stores” were recovered. The apprehended individual was identified as Kyhra Candi, aged 23 and a functionary of the NNC.  

The apprehended individuals along with the rescued person and the recovered items were handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation.
