Kohima, December 20 (MExN): The Director General of Police (DGP) Nagaland, Rupin Sharma, on December 20, has directed all unit Commanders to regularly check whether unit personnel deployed at various locations are under the influence of any kind of intoxicants.
If found under such influence, conduct a medical test immediately and submit a report to the concerned District Commissioner of Police or Superintendent of Police or take action at the unit level, he stated in a circular, demanding strict compliance from all concerned.
The circular noted that Unit Commanders, Assistant Commandant, SDPO, as well as OCs & Platoon Commanders would be held responsible for negligence or supervisory laxity if any personnel, or personnel deployed under their jurisdiction/charge, are found under the influence of liquor or intoxicants.
Furthermore, the circular stated that wherever personnel are involved in any kind of accidents or criminal cases, a medical test must be conducted mandatorily, and appropriate action should be taken as the case may be.
