
Maligaon, March 3 (MExN): Following the success of Ghum festival held in November-December 2021, the UNESCO world heritage Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) of NFR has launched Summer Festival 2022 from March 1.
The festival will be a month long affair to welcome the summer season in the hills and tourists returning back to hills after the long hiatus. It was formally launched at New Jalpaiguri station with a cultural programme, stated a press release by Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR. DHR has also launched AC services in the daily train between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling. Starting from April 1, all coaches in Darjeeling- Ghum Joy Ride services will be of Vistadome type.
Local population of Darjeeling, Ghum and Kurseong will also be offered a platform to display local culture, cuisine and artefacts through stalls in the station premises. Cultural programme showcasing the local culture and tradition will be organized during the weekends at various stations in DHR to mark the month long festival.
