DHS Zunheboto conducts training on routine immunization

ZUNHEBOTO, MARCH 19 (MExN): The District Health Society (DHS) Zunheboto successfully conducted a training program on the Routine Immunization Manual for health workers and medical officers at the District Hospital Conference Hall on March 19. 

The training was facilitated  by state resource personnel Kingson Kamkara, Senior Project Officer, UNDP and Imli Longkumer, Project Officer, UNDP, with support from the district team, including Dr.HetoSwu, DPO (UIP & RCH), and Dr Gihuka, Medical Officer, PHC Atoizu.

The training covered key topics such asthe roles and responsibilities of health workers and medical officers, the national immunization schedule, and frequently asked questions. Participants also received training on microplanning, cold chain and vaccine management, safe injection practices, and biomedical waste disposal.

A session on Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) focused on managing post-vaccination complications, while hands-on demonstrations on conducting immunization sessions were led by the state team. Discussions also covered vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD), data management, communication strategies, and supervision and monitoring of immunization activities. Additionally, participants were introduced to U-WIN, a digital platform for immunization tracking.

The training concluded with a post-test and feedback session, ensuring participants gained essential knowledge and skills to improve immunization services in the district.

Attendees included medical officers, community health officers (CHOs), nurses, lady health visitors (LHVs), and staff from DPMU and BPMU. The training aimed to enhance the capacity of healthcare professionals to deliver effective immunization services across the district.
