Kohima Panchayat Association seeks clarification
Dimapur, October 8 (MExN): The Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) has asked the State Finance Department to clarify “as to how a Drawal Authority (DA) for developmental projects is being issued against a non existing colony.”
It also sought to know to which department the DA was issued for execution of the works and also to “elaborate on the provision to Art. 275 (1) of the constitution of India etc.”
The attention of AKMWP is drawn to the alleged “DA related to repair/renovations, retaining walls, boundary walls, etc. for Planning Colony, Kohima and for activities under provision to Art. 275 (1) of the Constitution of India etc.,” stated press note from the association president Neibulie Kiewhuo and vice president Khrielakuo Sekhose.
There are 42 (forty two) colonies from 19(nineteen) wards under Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) and there is no record of Planning Colony listed within AKMWP, it said.
The AKMWP is the apex Association of all wards Panchayat within the jurisdiction of KMC, it added.
This non-existence of the Planning Colony was confirmed with the Administrator of KMC, the Association maintained.
In an earlier rejoinder to an allegation by the Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) about some DAs in different construction works across Nagaland, the State Finance Department has cited the colony as one of the beneficiary.
