DIMAPUR, MARCH 9 (MExN): The Diezephe Village Council which was dissolved on October 3, 2005 as per the Government notification could still not be properly constituted due to frauds and uncivil acts happening in the village stated the different organs of Diezephe i.e. Women Society, Youth Society, Village Development Board, Village Education Committee, Students’ Body, GBs and VCMs in a release. Complying with the directives given by the then Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur on November 11, 2005, the general public held a public meeting on November 26 and elected 10 leaders as the Village Council Officials which, the DC accepted the common voice of the village and ordered to submit the new Village Council Chairman and the members’ name list by December 7, vide EAC stated the release.
The Diezephe Village combine authority fully support the council body stated the release. While maintaining that the election was held peacefully, fair and democratically constituted as per the Nagaland Village and Area Council Act, the combined authority appealed the District Government Administrators to look into the matter urgently for necessary action.
Meanwhile, condemning Vikholie, self styled Chairman and his henchmen for creating frauds, bogus and disunity in the village, the Diezephe combined authority warned against divisive acts. The combined authority also informed all concerned Government Agencies/Departments, NGOs, public and leaders that under any circumstances, the Diezephe Village will not accept the ‘extremist group’ to constitute the village council in any form.
