Dimapur based GoC 3 Corps make assault on ULFA bases

DIMAPUR: The Army’s Dimapur-based GoC 3 Corps have launched an intensive military operation against scattered groups of the militant outfit United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) hiding inside Dihing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary on the Tinsukia-Arunachal border. The ULFA cadres, from the 28th Battalion, had been reported to be camping in the Sanctuary after the Army launched operations against the militants at the Dibru-Saikhowa National Park. Rag-tag groups of ULFA cadres taking shelter at Dibru-Saikhowa had retreated inside the Dihing Patkai wildlife sanctuary and were intending to escape into Myanmar, according to latest information. The ongoing operations, into its second day today, started September 26 assisted by the G0C 3 Corps. According to reports the 3 Corps along with two Platoons of the Sikh regiment and two platoons of the Jat Regiment are currently engaged in flushing out the ULFA Battalion.
