The Dimapur Bengali Students Union organised a felicitation programme to honour their meritorious students from the recently declared HSSCL and HSLC examination 2023 at St Mary higher secondary school Dimapur on September 10, with Tripura State Minister of Youth, Sports, Social welfare, Social Education & Labour, Tinku Roy being invited as the chief guest.
A total of 25 students were felicitated with gifts and certificates for achieving top positions, including subject toppers in Bengali and those students securing 90 percentile and above.
Speaking on the occasion, Roy mentioned that today’s youths were contributing immensely towards creating jobs and products here in the country. As India has an abundance of natural resources, he called upon the students to venture into ways to make the country self-reliant and self-sufficient without having the need to depend on other countries for import.
In addition, he viewed that under the new education policy, other co-curricular activities such as sports should also be given emphasis beyond the lessons taught in classrooms.

Speeches were delivered by various other invitees during the occasion. A special felicitation for the Team members of Faith in Action who made history by setting a new Guinness world record for the highest martial arts kick (assisted) on the set of India’s Got Talent on July 5 was also given.
Meanwhile President of Bengali Samaj, KK Paul noted that as students born and brought up here in Nagaland, he reminded them of the importance to make a positive contribution for the betterment of the state. “Nagas are very generous and very simple minded, some unfortunate incidents have happened in the past but it happens everywhere,” he said.
Regardless, he reminded the Bengali student to always be in touch with the student bodies of the state, learn to live in coexistence and work for the development and betterment of the community.
The newly elected Auditor General of the Naga Students Federation (NSF) Kawoka V Awomi stated in his speech that the student community has always strived for excellence and as such this is a day to honour them. “It takes a lot of hardwork and dedication and consistent effort for what you have achieved. From the office of the NSF, I wish that you strive for more accomplishments in the future,” he said.
Several dance and special numbers by the students from the Bengali community were also performed to the delight of the gathering.
