DIMAPUR, MAY 15 (MExN): The Dimapur District Health Society successfully concluded its Block Health Melas with the final event held at PHC Akito, Niuland Block on May 14. A similar mela was earlier conducted at CHC Dhansiripar under Dhansiripar Block on May 13.
Organised as part of the 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the health melas aimed to make healthcare services more accessible to communities by offering free screening, diagnosis, treatment, and medicines, along with spreading awareness on various health issues.

The medical team, led by Chief Medical Officer Dr T Temsu Lkr, comprised a gynaecologist, dental surgeon, general medical officers, AYUSH medical officers, and programme officers from key health initiatives including RCH/UIP, tuberculosis, vector-borne diseases, leprosy, oral health, DAPCU, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Technicians provided ophthalmology, audiometry, and other diagnostic services.

A total of 267 outpatient cases were registered during the melas. Services availed included 262 screenings for NCDs, 24 gynaecology consultations, and 205 general medicine cases. In addition, 53 patients were screened for cataracts, 64 for tuberculosis, and 189 received oral health services.
Information, education and communication (IEC) materials were distributed and interpersonal communication sessions were conducted to enhance public health awareness.
