Dimapur, July 27 (MExN): The Dimapur District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) during its monthly meeting reiterated on the need for having a new Deputy Commissioner Office complex at Dimapur.
A DIPR report stated that reviewing the last meeting minutes, the house decided to adopt a resolution and write to the government seeking information for stipulated time frame for completion and other details.
The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Advisor, Labour Employment and Skill Development, Excise and Chairman DPDB Dimapur, Moatoshi Longkumer in the conference hall of DC Dimapur on July 27.
The board also decided to write a letter to the Transport Department for deputing one officer at Dimapur for the convenience of the general public in Dimapur with regard to renewal and licensing.
Installation of CCTVs in shops
With regard to the installation of CCTVs in shops in and around Dimapur, representative from Commissioner of Police (CP) office informed that they have already identified 83 locations and have done the ground works along with technicians from Guwahati.
The CP office also informed that they have requested the business community but regretted that some do not take the issue seriously and requested the administration for issuing notification to the shopkeepers for installation of good quality CCTVs, which would strengthen the security in the district.
The police representative said that they will table the full report during the next meeting.
Committee on flood problem
On the flood problem of Dimapur which was flagged by the Chairman DPDB Dimapur during the last meeting, RO Dimapur Thejavizo Nakhro informed that a committee has been constituted with DMC administrator and members from several other departments numbering to 20 persons.
He informed that the committee has been divided into two teams and spot verification in several locations has been completed. Nakhro informed that team has been working since last week from morning to evening and that work was still ongoing and was hopeful that the team would be able to place the report during the next DPDB meeting.
Removal of obsolete and old telephone post
With regard to the removal of obsolete and old telephone post, the officer incharge from administration informed that a meeting was held with the service operators following which all the wires has been bundled up like was done in other states. Bundling of wires has been completed from Tragopan hotel to City tower and the 2nd phase of work from City tower to DC office junction is underway, she maintained.
Observing that wires are being drawn from different sites by individual house owners and shopkeepers spoiling the beauty of Dimapur city, Advisor Moatoshi advised the power department for intervention and to solve the problem before Christmas.
He also reminded those departments who are yet to submit the monthly progress reports to do so in order to have a lively discussion and debate.
Advisor Tovihoto while observing drainage problem as a major issue faced by Dimapur district especially during the monsoons, felt the need for a comprehensive master plan in order to solve the problem. He also noted that having a new DC office in Dimapur was a long felt desire of the people.
Others agendas of the meeting included approval of LADP 2023-24 Schemes for Dimapur I, II and III A/C and registration of societies.
