Dimapur, September 9 (MExN): A forum of landowners/pattadars whose lands are under army occupation in Dimapur town, have written to Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio seeking early solution to the land dispute.
In the representation, forum President Kvuchilo Thong and Secretary Ajao Kense stated that the forum has been writing to the Dimapur Deputy Commissioner for a number of years for perusal.
However, the matter has been delayed for so long, it said, adding that “the joint survey conducted by the army, defense estate and district administration in 2019 has not been approved till date.”
The representation stated that the landowners /pattadars have been peacefully and hopefully waiting for disposal of justice and handing over their lands to them. The forum has been cooperating with the government, however, it has been unfortunate to see the delay, it added.
It went on to state that there should not be any problem that cannot be tallied in connection with army occupied land; “We strongly feel that it is high time that all the necessary procedures and formalities should have been completed and handed over by now.”
Seeking the Chief Minister’s personal intervention, it forum further stated its expectation that the CM’s intervention would bear a positive outcome for the forum.
