Dimapur, November 1 (MExN): The Liangmai community in Dimapur celebrated Chaga Gadi Ngee at Orchid Ground UNB, Naga Colony, Burma Camp here on October 31. Organized by Liangmai Union Burma Camp, Dimapur, the festival saw various kinds of Liangmai cultural items presented by different groups.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Rev Joshua Wijonamai, Founder & Director of Grace Mission International National Overseer, dwelt on the importance of unity among the people. He also stressed on the importance of preserving and promoting one’s culture and tradition, stated a press release from Liangmai Union Burma Camp, Dimapur.
Also speaking on the occasion as guest of honour, Witoubou Newmai, Editor of NNN mentioned the reasons for celebrating the Chaga Gadi Ngee. He also said that the identity consciousness of smaller communities has been sharpened with the changing social dynamics of the world. Witoubou also told the gathering not to simply celebrate the festival just for the sake of celebrating it, but to go deeper on the reasons of celebration.
Liangmai elder Arou Chawang narrated the history of Chaga Gadi Ngee, while another Liangmai elder Ch Widinbo shared his thought about the event.
Artist Samuel Lotha and Abuiiu enthralled the gathering with songs, while Wisaisuiliu Chawang presented a Liangmai folk song. Dipuangbo cheered up the crowd with his talent show.
Liangmai traditional show was also presented by children. At the end of the event, a pork eating competition was held.
