Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): The Dimapur Lirmen Union celebrated Moatsü festival on May 3 at the residence of T. Sosang Longchar, IFS, Dimapur. DLST secretary Aolepden Longchar in a press release informed that the occasion was graced by Er T Saku Aier, parliamentary secretary Housing, Labour & Employment. In his speech, Er Saku highlighted on the past of our forefathers practice of celebrating Moatsü for 6 days after completing all the jhuming and sowing in the field invoking blessings of Lichaba for good harvest. He also donated a sum of rupees one lakh to Dimapur Lirmen Union.
Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur, president I. Temjen exhorted the gathering while N. Imti Longkumer highlighted some of the features of Moatsü festival. Kohima Lirmen Union, Humane Touch Society and Dimapur Lirmentsür Union participated in the programme by singing Ao folk songs. In the evening session, Hornbill Cultural Club, Dimapur, Lirmen Students’ Union Dimapur and N-Friends Club entertained the crowd with Ao folk songs and dances.
