Dimapur, March 24 (MExN): The Dimapur Lotha Hoho has appealed to the Nagaland Public Works Department (Roads & Bridges) to issue Phase II work orders for the Nagaland Foothills Road at the earliest, citing the approaching end of the working dry season.
In a press release, the Hoho referred to the Nagaland Foothills Road project initiated in 2013, connecting Tizit in Mon district to Dimapur, and later proposed for extension up to Khelma in Peren district, covering nearly 400 kilometres. It stated that the initiative, undertaken by the NFHRCC in collaboration with the Government of Nagaland and tribal hohos, “is worthy to be appreciated.”
The release noted that despite resource constraints, the State Government had secured SASCI loan funding for the ongoing two-lane construction under Phase I, which is nearing completion.
Referring to an earlier assurance by the Minister for PWD (R&B) to complete the entire project by 2027, the Dimapur Lotha Hoho stated that it would “earnestly appeal to the NPWD, Road & Bridges to issue the Phase II Work Orders in the remaining untouched divisions at the earliest before the working dry season gets over in order to complete the 2 lane Foothills road before venturing into a mega 4 lane National Highway Project.”
The Hoho also reiterated its position on the matter, stating that it “once again reiterates on the Memorandum submitted to the Hon’ble CM on February 21st 2026 by the 13 Dimapur Apex tribal Hohos.”
