
DIMAPUR, APRIL 5 (MExN): Dimapur beat Zunheboto by 6 wickets in the first semi-final match of the 4th Late G Rio Memorial Men's U19 Inter-District Tournament 2024 played at Nagaland Cricket Stadium on Friday. After winning the toss, Zunheboto elected to bat and set a target of 106 runs for Dimapur.
Zunheboto started off on a positive note, however, a destructive bowling spell by Sundram saw Zunheboto middle orders crumble. In the process, Sundram managed to compile his second 5 wickets haul at the tournament, setting up an easy target for his team. Raja 18 runs, Bekuto 17 runs and Aarush 16 runs were the only notable batters for Zunheboto. Dimapur chased down the target in just 12.2 overs losing 4 wickets.
In the second semi-final match played at Sovima Cricket Stadium, Mokokchung set a decent target of 158 runs in the allotted 50 overs losing 8 wickets. Tail enders- Moatemsu 51* (66 balls) and Imnawapang 15*(102 balls) remained unbeaten and helped their team to get to a decent total. Imnatoshi 17 runs, Salangdangba 15 runs and Zany Lemtur 10 runs also contributed to the run score.
For Niuland, Jatin picked 3 wickets; Sonu took 2 wickets while Kumar and Darsh pocketed a wicket each. Chasing a tricky target, Niuland faced tough moments as their top order batters fell in quick succession.
In-form young left arm chinaman spinner Amongti once again displayed a brilliant bowling spell by picking up 4 wickets in his allotted 10 overs and gave away only 16 runs. Once again tail-enders of Niuland- Kundan 81 runs and Sonu 23* runs rescued their team to reach the target. Imnawapang picked 2 wickets while Salangdangba, Moatemsu and Zany Lemtur took a wicket each.
