
Dimapur, July 25 (MExN): Population Stabilization Fortnight (July 11-24), 2020 was observed in Dimapur district under the theme ‘Preparation for Family Planning even in times of disaster. Full Responsibility of Competent Nation and Family.’
Dr Rebecca, District Programme Officer, UIP/ RCH, Dimapur informed in a press release that during the two-week long observation, family planning activities such as permanent female sterilization, temporary sterilization, distribution of condoms and contraceptive pills, inter-personal communications and distribution of IEC materials were carried out throughout the district.
Laproscopic Tubal Ligation sterilization, a permanent method of female sterilization procedure was carried out at CHC Medziphema by Dr Botoho, Surgeon and team and at UPHC Duncan by Dr Kutshutho, Obs & Gyn. District Hospital and team during the fortnight. While intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD) or commonly known as copper-T insertion, a temporary method of female sterilization, was carried in various CHCs and PHCs in the district.
During the observation of Population Stabilization Fortnight, a total of 68 permanent female sterilization and 30 IUCD insertions were carried out in the district. While 163 oral contraceptive pills and 1200 condoms were distributed. ANMs, ASHAs and IEC staff also carried out inter-personal communication in the form of FGD and one-on-one counseling.
