Dimapur, June 2 (MExN): Dimapur Police Anti Extortion Team (AET) Zone – II apprehended two for extortion from LRC colony, Dimapur on June 2. The two have been identified as Rajepeyu of NSCN (IM), Zubenthung Jami (33) and Khapur of NSCN (IM), Vihoto Aye (30). A press release from PRO, Dimapur Police informed that following articles were seized from their possession – 158 numbers of work permit with Serial No., 66 numbers of work permit without Serial No., cash amount of Rs. 310. Accordingly, a case has been registered and further investigation is on, it added.
Dimapur Police also arrested two people with regard to illegal transportation of liquor from Kuda Cold Storage compound located at 5th Mile, Dimapur on May 31 around 11:30 pm.
According to a press release from Dimapur Police PRO, upon receiving information about illegal IMFL being transported to the location, the OC of Diphupar Police Station along with police party rushed to the spot and found two trucks parked inside the compound.
“Illegal activity of unloading of IMFL from one truck and loading the said IMFL into the other truck was found going on. The cited compound was being utilized for the aforementioned illegal activity,” it alleged.
The driver of the truck bearing registration number NL07A-5997 managed to flee, while the driver of the other truck (AS09AC-2524) identified as Kailash Mahato (49) was arrested. The gate keeper-cum-machine operator of the cited cold storage named Krishna Devnath (25) was also arrested.
The release informed that both the trucks along with the illegal consignment comprising a total of 1463 cases of liquor (Kingfisher beer- 653, M.C. Rum- 810 cases) were seized. A case has been registered at Diphupar Police Station and investigation is on.
Meanwhile, on the same day, one person identified as Kewezeko Krome (28) was arrested by the SOT party while extorting money from shops in and around Dimapur, the PRO said. In this connection, a case has been registered at West Police station for further investigation, he added.
