Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): The Dimapur police, in a series of cases clamped down on crimes in the city, arrested 12 persons during the past two weeks. The first arrest was made on February 14.
A press note from the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police/PRO, informed that Dimapur police intercepted a Maruti Alto bearing registration no. AS01T1031 loaded with suspected contraband ganja and seized 10 packets of contraband ganja, each packet weighing 10 kg each (approx). Two persons were arrested, namely – Ningolou Alou Poumai (30 years) and L Abel Poumai (30 years). In this connection a case has been registered at Chümoukedima Police Station.
In a case of extortion, Dimapur police (AET) on February 18 apprehended one person Katoho Awomi, SS Captain NSCN (IM) while collecting illegal tax at a private residence undergoing construction at Ikishe village. In this connection a case has been registered at Diphupar Police Station.
On February 19, Anti Vehicle Theft Squad (AVTS) of Dimapur police recovered one stolen Scorpio vehicle bearing a fake registration number from Nagarjan colony. Two persons – Abdul Salam Barbhuyia and Betoka Swu were arrested and a case has been registered at East PS.
On February 23, Dimapur police personnel apprehended two persons – Kihito Labo and Herod Chuba from a motorcycle bearing registration no. AS03S3782, in possession of one .32 pistol, along with 11 live rounds. In this connection a case has been registered at Diphupar Police Station for further investigation.
The same day, one Abei Kuotsu (29 yearrs) SS Leacy NSCN (IM) was arrested for extorting money from the shop owners near Hollohon Petrol Pump, Purana Bazar. An amount of Rs 2700 was seized from his possession. A case has been registered at East Police station in this connection.
In another incident on February 23, one Neilasetuo (40 years) was arrested for illegal possession of one .22 pistol along with 05 live rounds. In this connection a case has been registered at East Police Station.
On February 22, one Kughaito Chishi (40 years) was apprehended for illegally collecting money at GS Road area. Cash amounting to Rs 1170 was seized from his possession. A case has been registered at Sub-urban Police Station.
Two persons were arrested at Naharbari colony on February 24, while collecting illegal tax from laborers in the name of NSCN (U). The arrested persons were identified as – Inoka Mure (32 years) SS Razoupeyu NSCN (U) and Manto Yeptho (37 years) SS Leacy of NSCN (U). Cash amounting to Rs 11,100 and 4 numbers of work permit issued in the name of NSCN (U) were seized from their possession. A case has been registered in this connection at East Police Station.
