Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): The Dimapur Police in the last few days made several arrest for crimes relating to extortion and car theft.
On Wednesday, one person named Kilemtoshi Ao (31) was arrested on charges of extortion from vehicles in LRC colony near DMC toll gate and recovered cash amount of Rs 3000 from his possession. A case has been registered in West Police Station, Dimapur, an update from Addl Dy Commissioner of Police (Crime) & PRO, Dimapur informed.
The Dimapur Police arrested Elithung Lotha (42) SS Dy Kilonser of NPGN/NNC (NA) on charges of extortion in Supermarket area near Essar Petrol Pump on August 2. From his possession, the police recovered two note pads (tax demand slip - NPGN/NNC (N/A); two note pads budget order allotment NPGN-NNC (N/A) Ministry of Home Affairs; two tax slips NPGN/NNC (N/A); one mobile handset; and cash amount of Rs 2150. A case has been registered in East Police Station, Dimapur.
On July 31 last, two people Nito Aye (27), SS 2nd Lieut NSCN K (Nikki) and Rolax Aye (38) SS Leacy NSCN K (Nikki) were arrested by Dimapur Police on charges of extortion in Burma Camp area.
According to the PRO, the police recovered the following items from their possession - three tax slip (cash receipt) – NSCN/GPRN(K); one tax slip – NPGN(NNC/NA); five tax slip – GPRN Ministry of Chaplee Affairs; one note pad; and two mobile phone. In this connection a case has been registered in East Police Station, Dimapur.
In connection with a case registered in Pan-Bazaar PS Guwahati, Dimapur Police on August 4 recovered one vehicle (Maruti Swift) from Niuland area, Dimapur and the recovered car was subsequently handed over to the rightful owner in the presence of Assam police.
