Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): The Commissioner of Police (CP), Dimapur has issued an order prohibiting flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms over the jurisdiction of Dimapur district. The order will come into force with effect from August 4 to 17 unless withdrawn earlier.
The order cited reports that “certain criminal or anti-social elements inimical to India may pose a threat to the safety of the general public, dignitaries and vital installations by the use of Sub-Conventional Aerial Platforms like Para-Gliders, Para-Motors, Hang Gliders, UAVs, UASs, Micro-light Aircrafts, Remotely Piloted Aircrafts, Hot Air Balloons, Small Size Powered Aircrafts, Quad-copters.”
As such, the CP, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 vide Government of Nagaland, Home Department Notification No.POL-1/ESTT/13/2014/D, dated December 17, 2014; issued the prohibitory order in view of the forthcoming Independence Day celebration. Violation shall be punishable under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, the order stated.
“As the notice cannot be served individually on all concerned, the order is, hereby, passed ex-parte. It shall be published for information of public through press and affixing copies on the notice boards of the offices of all DCPs, ADCPs, ACPs and Police Stations,” it added.
